Creating a Vision Board with the Vision Board Book

Over the weekend, I decided to create a Vision Board. My initial hesitation to creating one is that I don't subscribe to any magazines or material that I could use as collage pieces for my board; that's when I discovered the Vision Board Book. Did it feel like a mortal sin to take scissors to a book? Definitely! But the guilt was relieved a little when I realized the pages are perforated - this book is meant to be cut/torn/taking apart. With over 700 pictures and quotes, there's something to fit the vision for your life.

I put on a The Big Bang Theory and flipped through the book; cutting out any images that aligned with the things I wanted my vision board to represent. Then, I dug into my bin of canvas/base materials and found this 11x14 gesso board - a perfect canvas for my project.

I roughly laid out the images to make sure they'd generally fit on my chosen canvas. I was cutting it close especially since I'd chose a lot of quotes so my ability to overlap was limited.

I decided to add dimension with adhesive foam dots and attach some images to string with mini clothing pins across the board.

Here's my completed board! Overall, I'm glad I tried the Vision Board Book and it saved a lot of time versus sourcing images. Saving time is huge for me with a baby in the house. The other thing I liked about it, is the images had similar color schemes or aesthetics so in the end my board looked really cohesive compared to random pictures from the internet/magazines. At the same time, I feel like that randomness is something that is missing from the project.

Did you make a vision board this year? Where do you source your images from? Have you ever tried a pre-made vision board kit or the Vision Board Book?
